The JE Dunn + Hoefer Wysocki Architecture National Healthcare Design-Build Team is excited to announce that the Postgraduate Dental School and Clinic project, located in Texas at Lackland Air Force Base, has been awarded an Honor Award for Facility Design through the U.S. Air Force Design Awards Program. Jurors’ comments included “outstanding layout description and sustainability features, excellent incorporation of native limestone, and interior spaces truly provide an inspiring working environment.” This is the fourth award given to this LEED Gold Certified project, second from the U.S. Air Force. Past awards include: 2011 U.S. Air Force Honor Award for Concept Design in Industrial Design; 2012 Design-Build Institute of America Mid-America Region (DBIA-MAR), Honor Award for Healthcare Projects Over $10 Million; and 2014 International Interior Design Association Award, Honorable Mention for Healthcare Interior Design.
Hoefer Wysocki Architecture was recently awarded the Marengo Memorial Hospital Master Plan project located in Marengo, Iowa. Work has started as Partner, Jim Stearman, participated in a three-day charrette to evaluate their existing campus’ needs. More space in each department, setting them up for growth within their outpatient area and increasing their service needs have been determined as high priorities. Improving their inpatient services has been discussed as well, with the potential of offering women and birthing services again. Our team consists of Mitchell Planning Associates, Henderson Engineers and Bob D. Campbell.
The Air Force Postgraduate Dental School and Clinic recently received the Gold Award for Healthcare & Assisted Living at the 5th Annual Mid America Design Awards (MADA) sponsored by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Mid America Chapter. MADA is a biennial event and judging for the awards was based on innovation, functionality, implementation of design through use of materials, color, balance, light, and overall design intent. Congratulations to everyone who worked on the project!
Hoefer Wysocki is excited to announce our most recent project win – the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Center in Montgomery, Alabama! The new health care center will be 152,841 SF and feature a pharmacy, lab, radiology, eye clinic, dental clinic, and prosthetics. The design concept for the health care center was driven by the idea of creating a relaxing, healing environment for the patients and veterans’ families, while establishing an inspiring work atmosphere for the staff. The anticipated completion date for the building will be in 2015.
VA Laredo will be opening its doors next month! The 23,300-square-foot building encourages a non-institutional healing environment that balances the technological and code/criteria-driven features that support the delivery of effective healthcare. The Outpatient Clinic includes dedicated spaces for Laboratory, Dental, Mental Health, Education and Training, and a Primary Care Clinic.
