James Evrard, Associate AIA, has degrees from Kansas State University and the University of Missouri – Kansas City. He has also studied architecture in Italy and has participated in competitions centered in the U.S., Europe and Asia. He has been with the firm since June. Congratulations, James!

Postgraduate Dental School & Clinic at Lackland AFB Wins USAF Award

The JE Dunn + Hoefer Wysocki Architecture National Healthcare Design-Build Team is excited to announce that the Postgraduate Dental School and Clinic project, located in Texas at Lackland Air Force Base, has been awarded an Honor Award for Facility Design through the U.S. Air Force Design Awards Program. Jurors’ comments included “outstanding layout description and sustainability features, excellent incorporation of native limestone, and interior spaces truly provide an inspiring working environment.” This is the fourth award given to this LEED Gold Certified project, second from the U.S. Air Force. Past awards include: 2011 U.S. Air Force Honor Award for Concept Design in Industrial Design; 2012 Design-Build Institute of America Mid-America Region (DBIA-MAR), Honor Award for Healthcare Projects Over $10 Million; and 2014 International Interior Design Association Award, Honorable Mention for Healthcare Interior Design.

Carpenter Camp Part 4

The AIA Kansas City Carpenter Camp is holding its 4th event on Wednesday, March 31st. Since this is a hands-on training session attendance will be limited to 15-20 people. Register by March 26th. This 3 hour free event can be used as training units in the site observation category for your IDP. HWA Sponsors and Participates in AIA Kansas City Carpenter Camp

The AIA Kansas City Carpenter Camp is holding it’s 3rd event on Tuesday, March 16th. The primary goal of the camp is for young architects to learn real life experiences from carpenters and instructors. Every 2 weeks a new topic will be introduced; for example concrete forms, rough framing, carpets and welding. The event is free and is hands on training.  Every session is 3 hours and can be used as training units in the site observation category for your IDP.
